Murcia The Executive has approved the declaration of cultural interest, classified as archaeological site, the site 'Mills' in Moratalla.
The archaeological site is located on the site of the sleepers, in a sector defined by the confluence of the rivers and Benamor Alhárabe.
Discovered in the 70's, the site is a fortified village with different times of prehistoric and protohistoric occupation, most notably the Iberian cultural stage.
The archaeological site is considered as justified by the need to protect and preserve the existing at that location, given the significance and cultural value of archaeological remains of coverage, as well as the need to ensure the integrity of the physical and environmental contains the set.
Among the factors taken into account for consideration as a Cultural, environmental stresses orographic context provided by exceptional natural resources of the area and its strategic location.
The long occupation at the time (Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Iberian stage) denotes the importance of the environment and exceptional defensive situation, yet accessible, and the exploitation of natural resources.
It provides a remarkable state of preservation of their structures, which perfectly drawn planning and spatial distribution in each chronological stage, revealing the political and economic situations of each cultural moment.
