Development Minister, José Blanco, and Mayor of Moratalla (Murcia), Juan Llorente, Madrid have signed the cooperation agreement of 1% Cultural rehabilitation Moratalla Castle.
The Development Ministry will provide over 360,000 euros to this work.
Under this agreement, the Ministry of Works and the City Council 483,263.7 euros allocated to this project, of which Development will provide 75% (362,447.78 euros).
Historical review and project features
Moratalla Castle, of Islamic origin, was located at one end of the town as part of its urban close.
Her paintings and original towers were built with mud factories and crenellated parapets, in successive reforms were lined with masonry.
Was awarded the Order of Santiago and underwent numerous reforms under the sponsorship being considered today a landmark building held by feudal military orders, and also considered its Keep one of the most graceful and best constructed of Castilian territory during throughout the Middle Ages.
The fortified area was equipped with a composite interior encase cellars, pantries, stables, various rooms for habitation, well and home to the warden of the fortress.
Rehabilitation arises on almost all of the Castle to act in its canvas walls and towers, except the Keep which will be further intervention.
Also acts on the total interior space and discovered the remains of EnCase, and outside the walls in the areas located at the foot of Lookout Tower Canvas and EF in what is known by the name of "pen of rabbits'
This is essentially building activities including archaeological research, execution of growth with masonry towers and walls of the wall, partial reconstruction of the volume of the White Tower, creating routes to different levels with the placement of stairs and walkways metal covering of the remains found to encase the empowerment of the lower room and space for a new interpretive center uses or similar.
In addition to these partnerships, José Blanco has now signed agreements with 36 other local authorities, Communities and other institutions to implement projects under the funds generated by the 1% Cultural.
These performances include those conducted in English Cable (Almería), the Palace of San Sebastián Aiete, Castle Moclín (Granada), the Monasterio de San Pelayo (Oviedo, Asturias), the Amphitheatre of Merida Royal Tapestry Factory (Madrid) or the Great Temple of San Nicolas de Requena (Valencia), among others
The Development Ministry will allocate 39.5 million euros for these projects from large databases.
In total, these works involve an investment of 63.2 million euros, to be financed by applicants
Speaking after the signing of these agreements, White pointed out that, through the 1% Culture, Ministry of Public Works "is contributing more than ever, to rehabilitate and restore important monuments of our heritage."
Thus, explained that in 2009, the Ministry of Development devoted to this program, "the bulk of funded activities never reached before, reaching a figure in excess of 67 million euros."
The minister noted that this growth is due to "significant investment in transport infrastructure that the Government has made to the economic development of Spain, which is 60% more than it spent for this purpose in 2005."
"In this difficult economic environment, the activities funded under the Cultural 1% are not only measures to protect and promote the heritage of our towns and cities, but their effects extend beyond impacting positively on economic activity and employment, "he underlined.
1% Cultural
The Heritage Act provides that the 1% of the total execution of public works will fund the work of conservation and enrichment of the Spanish Historical Heritage or promoting creativity.
The performances are held in buildings of cultural interest or similar.
The calculation of this 1% is made on the basis of budget execution of all construction material in excess of 600,000 euros.
Projects submitted by local authorities, are approved by the Joint Commission of 1% Cultural, involving the Ministries of Development and Culture.
