The Governing Council has approved the project for the construction of irrigation regulating reservoir of the farm, in Moratalla, with an investment of 2,555,072 euros, with the aim of modernizing the irrigation of the irrigation community in this river Alhárabe locality.
The work planned will improve the regulation of flows from the headwaters of the river irrigation Alhárabe, and continue with the refurbishment and modernization initiated in 2000.
Similarly, the losses will be reduced existing water and stored water for irrigation in the winter season for use during the summer months.
The reservoir will have a capacity of about 300,000 cubic meters.
The cost of this infrastructure will be co-financed by EAFRD European Union by 47 percent, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water by 28 percent and the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine at 25 percent.
The Murcia Region is leading the modernization of irrigation in Spain, with more than 140,000 hectares, representing 85 percent of modernized irrigation areas, compared with 20 percent of the national average.
The Community is applied to crops a drip irrigation system managed by modern computer technology and even mobile phone.
