The Minister of Development, Public Works and Planning in functions, Francisco Barnabas, today visited the works in the RM-702 road that connects the town of Barranda caravaqueña with the limit of the region of Murcia, in the direction of Nerpio, involving the extension of the platform, pavement repair and improvement of drainage.
Bernabe said that this action, in the municipality of Moratalla, "is not only of great importance for the inhabitants of the villages in the area, both Murcia and Albacete, but has the added interest of improving and making communication more comfortable with a region of the neighboring province which is very popular as a destination for rural tourism and along which daily more than 600 vehicles. "
The holder of Development emphasized that "along the 4.4 kilometer-long stretch on which has intervened, has widened the road at 2 meters, going from 4 to 4.5 meters between 6 and 6.5. "
At the same time, he added "the pavement was repaired and improved drainage, which represents an investment of almost 200,000 euros and, even more importantly, a very remarkable increase road safety for all users."
In addition to the narrowness of the road, there was a significant deterioration of the pavement, more pronounced in the outer bands where they appeared mordant so far repaired with minor operations, with inputs from chipboard cold and patching.
The intervention consisted in conducting widening wedges 1 meter wide on each side of the road, with the contribution of artificial gravel that has been properly compacted to support the traffic of the road, and with the prior disposal of material worn pavement.
At some stage the extension has been achieved with the clearing of the surrounding slopes to the road.
Once it achieved the expansion, which now allows the crossing of two vehicles without invading the margins, the firm has acquired an area of ​​greater safety and comfort to repair the pavement through a layer of regularization in the most damaged areas, followed by two additional treatment layers across the width of the track.
It has also improved the longitudinal drainage ditches forming evacuating rain water, adding more protection to avoid damage to the road, and the transverse, with the placement of concrete pipes.
The action has been completed with the application of road marking paint and replacement of vertical signs and the placement of safety barriers.
