When removing unauthorized fossils have been reported to the Heritage Service of the Autonomous Community
The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, in the context of 'Defense Plan Spanish Historical Heritage', has developed the operation 'FOSSIL' that has resulted in the recovery of eight pieces paleontological Inazares-Moratalla, surreptitiously removed by two people who have been reported to the Heritage Service of the Autonomous Community.
The performances took place after a service patrol Nature Protection (SEPRONA) that serviced by the area called Barranco de Inazares, the town of Moratalla, detected the presence of two people who allegedly were seeking and extracting paleontological fossils, so they proceeded to the identification and verification of the effects they carried.
Inspection by the Meritorious allowed to prove that, until that moment, had been removed eight fossil shells of various sizes and that the two identified lacked the authorization of the Heritage Service of the Autonomous Community.
After checking details the work carried out by the two identified, as the method used for extraction, the tools used, the parts obtained and possible damage to the reservoir record was forfeiture of fossils and proceeded to write the complaint for an alleged administrative violation to Law 4/2007, the Cultural Heritage of the Region of Murcia, which establishes the need for the required authorization to perform these activities.
The performances have been referred to the Directorate General of Cultural Assets of the Autonomous Community, to which have been made available also operated fossils.
