Moratalla City Council has participated in the 4th Meeting of Project management and monitoring VILLAGES (31/07/2013)

During these three days, the Project partners VILLAGES (www.villages-net.eu) held an international meeting in which the City Council presented the various initiatives being carried out in the framework of this project.

The meeting was also attended by prominent members of the Managing Authority and the Joint Technical Secretariat of the ENPI CBC Med Programme (Cross Border Cooperation Programme in the Mediterranean from the European Neighbourhood and Partnership), which is based in Sardinia.

Organized by Laore, Regional Agency for Agricultural Development in Sardinia, the meeting was held in the town of Seneghe, and also attended the most relevant local stakeholders in agricultural and forestry management, tourism and cultural development or planning and land management in rural areas.

During the first day, the Steering Committee and Monitoring addressed, in addition to administrative and financial matters relating to the Project, the situation of the same locally.

In this sense, Moratalla has done to date with all their administrative and technical, and is the only partner that has begun to create a structure of public - private partnerships that can be inserted in future project network.

Among the issues the City of Moratalla submitted for consideration of ICALPE, VILLAGES lead partner, are the materials and design will be the development of the area document that is being developed with the Focus Group for the development of tourism in Moratalla , the local structure proposed public - private cooperation for future Work Network VILLAGES, and draft collaboration agreements for the capitalization of project results.

One in training and entrepreneurship in the tourism sector (SUITES project, led by the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Murcia), and another with PROFORBIOMED, ​​a project led by the Directorate General Environment of the CARM, and has among its objectives the development of strategies for improving the production-consumption chain of forest biomass, sustainable forest management for Mediterranean Forest biomass production or forestry development by creating industries.

The content design agreed with members of the Local Group Focus has been very well received by the project leader, who gave his approval to start printing once the members of this working group approved the final text.

The rest of initiatives presented by the City were very well received by the members of Villages and serve as a model for future projects in other areas of the partnership.

During this meeting it was agreed to postpone the holding of the next activity in Egypt, due to security problems that beset the country, and instead planned to celebrate it in Tunisia in late October.

On 26 and 27 took place the workshop dedicated to Seneghe Township and the Region of Sardinia, which VILLAGES project partners had the opportunity to attend presentations and subsequently learn firsthand the various management methodologies and development policies in the territory, as well as some of the most relevant socio-economic actors the same.

Activities and visits carried out, of particular interest were the various examples of the exploitation of local resources in the field of agriculture, performing visits to the cooperative production of olive oil Oleificio Seneghe Cooperative, which has won several national awards and international, to a farm Red Bull Consortium (Bue Rosso), native bovine meat producing a high quality, or forests and communal farming management.

As part of this workshop, the City of Moratalla has been invited to participate in the international competition of olive oil to be held in the Region of Sardinia next year and has established contacts with various cultural associations, cooperatives and Sardinian territory for future exchanges.

VILLAGES has been selected by INTERACT, European body support to the administration of programs and territorial cooperation projects, to attend the European Cooperation Project Day as an example, on 21 September in Brussels, an event attended by the project leader , ICALPE.

The project VILLAGES "Savoir-Faire Transfert en Méditerranée pour le Développement Durable des Commnutautés Défavorisées Estate in Rural Zones" (Exchange of Good Practices in the Mediterranean for the development of local communities in disadvantaged rural areas), is placed in the priority 4 .

Promotion of cultural dialogue and local governance; Measure 4.3.

Improved local governance process ENPI CBC MED Programme.

Promotes VILLAGES, through the creation of a multisectoral partnership, improving the living conditions of local communities in disadvantaged rural areas of the Mediterranean, providing the tools to create their own systems of governance and developing their skills as catalysts of local development processes.

The project duration is set at 36 months and the total budget amounts to 1.7 M € of which 1.5 M € are ENPI contribution (90%)
