The Director General of Tourism, Enrique Ujaldón, today announced the events planned to mark the celebration of Easter and Fiesta del Tambor Moratalla 2012.
Ujaldón, who was accompanied by the Mayor of Moratalla, Antonio Garcia, the Councillor for Tourism, Juan Soria, and the president of the Association of drummers, Antonio Fernandez, said that "this tradition of the drum, so widespread in Spain, shows historical and cultural ties that have from one end to another country. "
The director general of Tourism said that the Drum Festival was declared a Cultural Heritage in April 2011, and is in the process of declaration of it as a World Heritage Site: "We are very optimistic and confident that the festival of drum of Spain, and, as we are concerned, the Mula and Moratalla, get that statement, because they are living a festival, have tradition and involve a whole people. "
The acts of the Drum Festival began on Feb. 1 and last until Easter.
This year the event has for the first time a Women's Drum School, which takes place every Saturday, from 4 February to 24 March from 16:00.
As for the religious ceremonies of Holy Week of Moratalla, began on Wednesday February 22 and end on April 8, Easter Sunday.
Furthermore, on Saturday April 21 awards ceremony will be a part of the brotherhoods moratalleras to be held at the Teatro triethanolamine in the municipality.
