Case Study] | European Project Day XVI of the UMU |
Moratalla City Council has presented as a success, the European Project Village at the XVI European Project Day at the University of Murcia, on the occasion of the presentation of the Second Call for Projects Program Standard ENPI CBC Mediterranean Basin, and the III Program Call for Projects Southwest Area Committee (sudo).
The conference, organized by the European Projects Office at the University of Murcia (operum) and was introduced by the Director of Campus Mare Nostrum was held in the Social Center University of Murcia and was attended by prominent D.
Ernoux Vincent, Coordinator of the Liaison Office ENPI CBC Med - located in Valencia, which had the second call for projects of this program standard.
The day was attended by more than 80 people representing a variety of stakeholders from the universities, to local authorities, research institutes, centers and many others semipublic.
Likewise, and by videoconference from Santander, D.
Eloy Gomez, Head of Communication and capitalization of the Joint Technical Secretariat SUDOE program, presented the third edition of it.
Subsequently, we analyzed two cases of successful calls above:
- Telerrieg Project, led by the Instituto Murciano Agricultural Research and Development - IMIDA, if successful second call SUDOE
- The Villages project, if successful first call for projects ENPI Standard Program, which the City Council is a partner.
As mentioned in the day, Moratalla has been the only entity in the Region of Murcia in participating in the ENPI Programme through the first call and in addition this project being highly rated in the evaluation phase, being among the first of the 30 chosen from a total of over 500 projects submitted.
During the exposure of Moratalla, explained the main reasons that led to participation in the project VILLAGES, including mentioning the possibilities of improving the tourism sector through public-private cooperation to provide improvements to the local population for the development of socio -economic and employment.
Moreover, during the course of the day, the City Council held a meeting with the Regional Observatory Local and Rural Development at the University of Murcia, represented by D.
Francisco Maeso, director of the Master in Local Development and Employment of the UMU, with the aim of this institution is part of the Focus Group to be created in Moratalla in the framework of the Villages.
Also, and in view of the organization of the Second Technical Meeting Villages Project, which will take place in the 24th Moratalla, 25 and April 26, discussions with the coordinator of the Liaison Office in Valencia, D.

Villages Project "Savoir-Faire Transfert en Méditerranée pour le Développement des Commnutautés Durable Services in Rural Zones Défavorisées" (Exchange of Good Practices in the Mediterranean for local community development in disadvantaged rural areas), falls within the priority 4 .
Promotion of cultural dialogue and local governance; Measure 4.3.
Improved local governance process ENPI CBC Med Programme.
Villages Promotes, through the creation of a multisectoral partnership, improving the living conditions of local communities in disadvantaged rural areas of the Mediterranean, providing tools to create their own systems of governance and developing their skills as a catalyst of local development processes.
The project duration is fixed at 36 months and their total budget amounts to 1.7 M € of which 1.5 M € are ENPI contribution (90%)
Villages Project and Permanent Job Network and Exchange that you want to be upon completion, provide a unique opportunity for the municipality of Moratalla, as the ends sought could result very favorably on the establishment of new models of management and development for the township, where he first aspect such as the promotion of citizen participation in public affairs, the establishment of public-private sector networks (in this case with a more tourist-oriented), the development of new forms of territorial management so far not implemented in the municipality, the strengthening of intra-municipal social cohesion, transfer and exchange of knowledge and best practices with other project partners and the local presence and contact with European institutions.
