The river ecosystems host a new reforestation Risca (06/10/2011)

The Otter Project is an initiative of Ecologists in Action, the region of Murcia which aims to preserve an endangered species in the region, such as the otter (Lutra lutra), recover the endangered riparian forests of the Segura basin, preserving Murcia traditional garden ecotourism and promote a long-term benefits to coastal populations.

This disclosure is intended by the many values ​​of the Segura river ecosystem and social participation.

Throughout the autumn will be carried out various activities, being the first on Sunday, October 9, in the area of ​​RISC in Mortalla.

This reforestation has as main objective the restoration and conservation of the riverine areas and diversity, so removal work will be made of exotic flora and planting juniper specimens and black pine, juniper and oak.

The achievement of reforestation with juniper that this species responds to these territories once satisfied they are considered as potential areas for development.

The juniper is the preferred species because it is perfectly suited to this type of soil and climate of the Region of Murcia.

Sabine Both campaigns have come earlier successful with more than 95% have taken root as normal and have optimal growth in areas that have been reforested.
