The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has launched a new unit of forest fire in the town of Moratalla to be operational during the months of high fire danger.
It is a Rapid Intervention Brigade (BIR) consisting of a light vehicle, capable of extinguishing of 450 liters of water under high pressure, and four foresters in charge of an environmental agent.
It is designed to smother fires of low entity and attempts.
The new brigade is currently conducting training tasks along with the forest brigade of the municipality.
As of today make security services in the municipality and surrounding areas with a forest area of ​​115,000 hectares more than in the Northwest.
In this region, 66,000 hectares are to the town of Moratalla.
The CEO of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernandez, said that this new brigade "is the result of redistribution of troops being conducted by the Ministry with the aim of optimizing the number of specialists from extinction."
This season there are 200 foresters, 95 environmental agents, 24 technicians, 64 guards fixed and different personnel involved in the logistics and meteorology and Transfer Unit.
Therefore, almost 400 troops are involved in fighting forest fires and territorial custody of the county with the highest forest surface in the region.
The new body is involved in custody and detection of various Special Protection Areas for birds, especially the Sierra de Moratalla and four Sites of Community Importance: Sierra de la Muela, Sierra de Villafuerte, Rambla de la Rogativa and Revolcadores .
The Ministry of Agriculture and Water brings to 19 brigades Infomur Forest Plan, five rapid intervention brigade (including the newly created), a Mobile Broadcast Meteorology and four logistics units, in addition to technical and environmental agents.
