The president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), Charo Quesada, and the mayor of Moratalla, Juan Llorente, today visited the refurbishment of the Green Corridor on the banks of the river Benamor, passing through the vicinity of the village Moratalla, and whose budget was an investment of 1,436,759.11 euros.
The objective of this project, financed by ERDF and included in the agreement with the Autonomous Community of Murcia for the protection and regeneration of natural environment, is to enhance the environmental conditions of the site, obtaining from them a very attractive green corridor that crosses the river twice Benamor, one of the steps is performed by a concrete ford and the other by a wooden footbridge of 27 m span.
The route is divided into five sections, with a total length of 2,160 meters, starting at the Country Road San Juan (MU-7039), west of the village, and ends in the east, linking back to the urban area Tenor García Guirao street.
In the first section (422 meters), the CHS is planning to perform tasks of clearing, construction of a path, the lateral acondcionamiento a walk 2 meters wide, the piping of irrigation canal and the construction of a masonry wall of 1.8 meters in height and placement of signboards.
In the second section (479.25 meters long), the basin organization conditioned lateral walk, protect an irrigation canal in the first 50 meters of masonry wall one meter high, while it will build a wall of 6 feet in the gorge of Saffron to defend the side of the ravine and make the platform on the road.
In addition, the CHS placed a wooden railing on the crest of the wall and ending with cobblestone pavement, which act as small viewpoint
On the way down the river Benamor be placed a wooden railing on the side of the road and at the end of this section, we will construct a 60 meter long speed bump adapted to the river and a width of 5 meters, near which CHS run small slope protection walls, in addition to placing directional signs, benches and bins and plant specimens of native trees (hackberry).
On the other hand, pave the Pujola Road (290 meters), while side walls of masonry constructed to protect the ravine and a small concrete ford at the crossing of the ravine.
Also, in the steepest run a ditch for water collection.
Leg 3 (627.78 meters in length) provides for the paving of the driveway with colored concrete, implementation of ditch at the side of the corridor due to the steepness of existing, construction of a gazebo with masonry perimeter walls, paved with cobblestone and rail, while in the final stretch of road where the slope changes, the CHS will run a speed bump for the disposal of water, while placed signposts, benches and trash, and planting hackberry.
With regard to section 4 (240 meters), the CHS will conduct a 75-meter walkway parallel to the existing asphalt road with a stone wall that marks the passage of the adjoining properties.
Over the next 118 meters of the path, the existing road will be paved, while placed a wooden walkway of 27 m long and 2 meters wide to cross the river Benamor.
In addition, the CHS will protect the slopes and the channel with riprap, in addition to placing signs and directional signs, planting native trees: 11 units of hackberry and install 4 banks and 4 bins.
Finally, section 5 (140 meters) includes a pedestrian walkway parallel to the existing paved road width of 2 meters.
