The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, along with the mayor of Moratalla, Candida Marin, visited the day center Elderly people of the town, municipally owned, where the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) subsidizes 15 seats, for a total of more than 119,000 euros, through the agreement signed with the City of Moratalla.
Day centers in older people with some degree of cognitive impairment, sensory and mobility disabilities receive specialized with preventive care and rehabilitation purposes.
They also have individualized attention and follow-up and programmed activities based on their needs.
So, when they begin to attend the day center Custom Care Plan, agreed by the multidisciplinary team with family or caregivers are made.
The main mission is to provide older people and specialized technical support in daytime, so they can develop more autonomous activities of daily life.
The care offered in the center of Moratalla enables older people may continue living at home, with special attention to functional recovery by acting as a bridge between the center and the community in which they live.
The Community has expanded this year by 18 percent the number of places in nursing homes and day centers.
In 2016 they have created 632 new positions, representing a total of 4,080 seats between day center and residence, compared to the 3,448 it had in 2015.
