The Regional Assembly has approved unanimously by all groups the motion has defended the deputy of the Socialist Group, Choni Ludeña, in support of the City of Moratalla and the Association of drummers in this town to be processed for the Statement of Interest National tourist Festival Drum Moratalla.
Ludeña has also called on the regional Government to carry out as quickly as possible the procedures that apply to achieve such recognition.
The Socialist deputy reported that the Drum Festival Moratalla, declared of Regional Tourist Interest on January 8, 1990, "is one of the most original festive and cultural manifestations of all those held in our country, to mark the celebrations of Easter ".
This festival is an ancient tradition that Moratalla shares with Mula, within our region, also with Hellin and Tobarra, in the neighboring region of Castilla-La Mancha;
with Alcaniz, Hijar, Aragon Calanda or Baena in the Andalusian Community.
"However, the unique characteristics of the Drum Festival Moratalla make it unique in the whole of them," said Ludeña.
And this is so, notes the deputy, the composition and size of their drums, the attire of the Nazarenes, with their colorful robes and, above all, distinctive, differentiated and unmistakable beat of the drummers moratalleros.
"These features provide it with an originality that attracts a lot of visitors each year and make it worthy, in our view, be considered as a festival of National Tourist Interest".
The deputy concluded by thanking all the parliamentary groups support this initiative and defend the rich cultural heritage of our region.
