The City Council and the Foundation Moratalla Cajamar have organized a day to show the town the theoretical aspects of revegetation and the practical aspect to be tested in municipal waste, all in the context of global events on the day of the fight against Desertification on 17 June.
The purpose of the act and the World Day is to raise awareness of the problem of soil loss and the consequent impoverishment of vegetation and ecological balance, the conference will be held on Wednesday 17 June at eight p.m. in the hall of the City and the same, the team from the area of environment Cajamar Foundation will present the results obtained in the past two years through an amendment drawn up based on the composting of agricultural waste and the addition of a volcanic rock called zeolite.
Use of this amendment when making the planting has been shown in tests to date, a significant improvement in both the survival of plants and the vigor and growth.
The agreement between the two institutions plan to use soil in Moratalla to expand data collection extending the information available to the environment of the province of Murcia in giving other soil and climatic conditions to those that have been tested in the province Almería.
All with a view to medium term is to expand the activity from the size of the current show of large-scale restoration.
This act is done in coordination with the environmental conservation program managed by the Directorate-General for Natural Heritage and Biodiversity and the Directorate General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control pertaining to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia .
